Nail Swap with The Naily Mail - Featuring a review of Just My Look*

A while ago Lauren, from The Naily Mail, and I were contacted by Just My Look about reviewing some of the lovely nail polishes that they have available on their website; but these were to be reviews with a bit of a twist... We would be picking the colours for each other.  Needless to say we took up the offer, so today I have OPI Tocan Do It If You Try*, OPI That's Hula-rious!*, Morgan Taylor No Way Rosé*, and Morgan Taylor Sugar Fix* to show you.

Lauren and I have also done a nail swap using our new colours.  Here's clue about which design I chose - any guesses?  Read on to see the swatches and finished design.

OPI - That's Hula-rious

This is such a gorgeous colour; pale greens like this are always top of my wish list and when I first saw swatches of this OPI I knew it was going to be one that I needed to add to my collection at some point.  I've use two coats and a top coat here.

OPI - Toucan Do It If You Try

If you are looking for the perfect summer colour, I think this is it.  Orange and coral polishes are not usually something that I go for, but this is somewhere in between the two, and I'm surprised at how much I like it.  I've used two coats and a top coat, although this was a little bit more difficult to apply than That's Hula-rious as the first coat was very streaky.

Just My Look have lots of different OPI polishes available, priced at £8.35^.

Morgan Taylor - No Way Rosé

I haven't tried many Morgan Taylor polishes before, but the ones that I have are lovely, so I was very excited to see two in my parcel when I unwrapped it.  Overall I find them a little difficult to apply as they are quite thin, but they give great coverage with a few coats and look stunning when on.  This is two coats with a top coat, and such a lovely shade with beautiful shimmer.

Morgan Taylor - Sugar Fix

I love love love this polish.  The shimmer is beautiful and the subtle pink is just enough to give a bit of colour, but not enough to be overpowering.  I have used three coats here and a top coat.

Just My Look have Morgan Taylor polishes available priced at £7.99^.

A big thank you for picking such great colours for me Lauren - I love them!  And a thank you to Just My Look for replacing my first lot of polishes after a nail mail disaster...

Sob, sob...
Now on to the nail art swap.  Lauren and I discussed different ideas, such as twin nails or individual nail art, but in the end settled on a nail art swap to add a an element of challenge.  I spent a while looking through Lauren's posts to choose something, and in the end settled on a mosaic design.  Lauren has a few different ones (see them here) but the one I based my design on is this one.

The Naily Mail Mosaic Nail Art

Here's my recreation...

Mosaic-nail-art.jpg

I started with two coats of Sugar Fix as a base colour and then when that was completely dry I used nail tape to create the mosaic pattern.  As you can see above I used lots of different colours of tape so that I could keep track of the order I added them in.  This made it so much easier when it came to taking it off so I didn't ruin my design.  To fill in the gaps I used my other colours that I was sent and I am really pleased with the finished effect.  I don't think it was too bad for a first attempt.

Be sure to check out Lauren's recreation on my purple galaxy nails and see her post for swatches of the colours I picked for her.

Here's a closer look at Lauren's galaxy nails - I love the gradual shift in colour to show off the blue and orange as well as the purple and pink.
